Sickness and Management Skills

Yesterday I felt so horrible, I went home half way through the day. Okay, I went to lunch, came back for an hour, THEN went home. Honestly though, I felt like crap and sounded like it. I stayed in bed all afternoon, with the heat up, under a thick blankey. Drank tea, drank water, took vitamins, and read. I actually felt good when I finally went to sleep. This morning, I wake up, and think, eh, I feel sick, but okay. I give myself time to wake up, eat breakfast, get the phlem out of my throat, and at 9am, I think, okay, I'll go into work. Call the boss to tell him I'll be an hour late.

Him (sounding sick himself): "Shit."
Me: "What??"
Him: "Rado isn't here either."

Well, la de da. What can I do about that?? I can't help it that Stefan is on vacation and his projects are falling apart, I'm sick, he's sick, and Rado's not there. And what does "Rado's not here either" mean? Is he sick? Late? What? Mick tends to over dramatize the worst possible scenario.

Me: "Well, I'll be there in an hour or so."

Of course since then, I've done nothing but hack up a lung. Lovely. But, I'm still going in. With my Advil, vitamins, cough lozenges, etc.

Sometimes I think my boss should take Management 101. Posted by Jinglelady at December 18, 2003 09:40 AM | Previous Blog | TrackBack
