Tidbits: an answer to a riddle
My family uses Tidbits - small rounded rectagular cheese crackers - in our Chex TV mix. Well, we used to. This year none of us could find them ANYWHERE to complete the mix. And this is sad, because it's my FAVORITE part of the TV mix!! By themselves, I do not like Tidbits, but they are AWESOME in the TV mix with the butter, worcheshire sauce, and spice mix. Mmm yummy!
So I decided to google for Nabisco Cheese Tidbits. And I found an answer at
Answers to Ask Liz 2003 over at NBC. To quote:
Q: Why can't I find those crackers called "Cheese Tidbits" anymore?
A: For your answer we contacted Nabisco, the company that makes Cheese Tidbits. And it says, unfortunately, the reason you cannot find them in your local grocery store is because Nabisco discontinued the product at the end of 2002. It wouldn't say why because of proprietary reasons, but it does still make "Cheese Nips", which is widely available.
I'm guessing the holiday spike in sales isn't enough of a reason to keep the product around. So, I'll have to experiment with Goldfish or Cheese Nips or Cheez-Its. Sniff.
