Whew....found a good not too

Whew....found a good not too expensive flight within the US just now. It pays to look at neighboring cities. :) And it really works out in that my Dad is taking a class in the city I'll be arriving in that week. Now I just need to book it. The telephone line for the airline here is down b/c it's late and Travelocity apparently doesn't believe people live outside the US either --although you can choose to show prices in Euros when you sign up to be a member, you can't choose a country other than US or Armed Forces Europe for your address! So I'll call the phone number tomorrow morning.

Looked at an apartment today. Not great, not bad. It's the only one to make it on the "consider" list so far. Have another one to look at tomorrow and a newspaper full of new ads to buy tomorrow morning. Another one would have made it -- great kind of loft apartment with excellent view -- but they absolutely want somebody for the 15th of Dec and I absolutely don't want it until the 1st or 15th of Jan. Oh, and the two month fee (see below).

The only kicker is, it's hard to find an apartment that doesn't require you to pay the real estate agent a two month rent fee. Even when you find them in the newspaper classifieds and don't go through the real estate agent! If the landlord uses a real estate agent, bam! -- two month fee. Some don't use landlords and some real estate agents don't charge this fee on all apartments ... but those that are using a real estate agent and DON'T charge this fee are usually not too good. Well, it's only week one of serious searching, so.......Something will come along.
