Okay, picking up the moving

Okay, picking up the moving van on Saturday:

I reserved a large transporter van from a company called eSixt. Since this was a large van, one can not pick these up at a regular rental car place. I knew this place was in the North of Munich and in between Sbahn/Ubahn stops, so I had to walk. It ended up being about an hour of walking, but not too bad. All told I showed up at 9:40 for an 8am Reservation. To be told that I reserved at 8am, it's now two hours later, they've given my van to somebody else. Everything else is booked, and no, they can't give me the number of another place. Sorry (not very). Next door is a Hertz place, so I try that. The lady there is very sympathic and says Sixt does that kind of thing all the time even if you are 10 minutes late. If they can find somebody else to rent the car for more, they do....and the excuse is either you didn't show up on time or the car is "broken". At first it didn't look like she had anything either, but after double checking she found a HUGE truck that nobody wanted to rent because the floor was about chest level, no ladder, no lift. So she gladly let us have it for a one way rental, for the price of their smallest van. Hey, I had a truck to move my things, it was cheaper than what Sixt was going to charge me, and she got it off her hands....good deal all around!

So....time to drive home. Somehow Dieter and I ended up going the long way back around Munich and it took us an hour + and 100km to make a 30km/30 min drive. The problem was while I had originally made the appointment with my landlord to turn over the apartment at 3pm, I had changed it to 1pm the day before thinking that 9am to 3pm was too long to pack my stuff and clean the floor and bathroom, we would be done way early and have nothing to do. By the time we actually got home with the truck, it was about 11:30am.....an hour and a half to pack and clean....not enough time!
