Istanbul (not Constantinople)

I went to see Mona Lisa Smile this evening (auf Deutsch!). Quite good. It's a feminine verson of Dead Poets Society, which I also loved.

The movie is set in 1953/4 so I was quite surprised to hear "Istanbul (not Constantinople)" being performed at one point in the movie. As far as I knew, this is an original They Might Be Giants song. I thought it was an inside anachronistic joke. Hah. The joke is on me! The original is song by The Four Lads, written by Jimmy Kennedy. Their version netted them a Gold Record in 1953 [It seems the official Billboard charts are not online. Or I can't find them. Anybody have a clue where to find them??].

Nobody should say blogs are not educational! I thought the same about the song, thanks for pointing out the correct details
