I broke out the new rollerskates today and headed into town. The plan was to skate to the Sbahn stop two stops away, get off at the Sbahn stop closest to the Museum, skate there, change shoes, and then take in the Andy Warhol exhibit.
It went mostly to plan. I skated to the FIRST Sbahn stop because my shins were in pain before I even got there! Then I got of the Sbahn and fell down three times on the way to the Museum. Laughing the entire way though! :) The last time I fell down, I just stayed down and changed shoes there. A couple of older ladies saw me fall down and laughed. The others just looked at me like I was a street bum. Oh well. I was only a block away from the museum at this point though, so I was pretty much on plan.
The exhibit is about the contents of 100 cardboard boxes that Andy Warhol sealed up with momentos and various mundane or interesting items - bills, artwork, books, letters, albums, clothes, etc. He called them Time Capsules. In all, he sealed up about 600 boxes, and his estate/museum has only finished cataloging 100 of them since his death. It was an interesting exhibit. What was most fascinating for me was reading the letters - some of them are 40 years old, but they sound like something you could read in a letter now. One item was particularly interesting because it sounded like the catty in fighting you can read on some personal websites today. I laughed.
After the exhibit closed, I walked to the nearest Starbucks and lounged there for an hour or so reading discarded newspapers and drinking a coffee. Nice relaxing afternoon.
On the way home, I put the skates back on, got off an exit before normal, and skated home. The shins didn't complain this time, but the knee is loudly protesting the banging it got from another fall.
