I'm going to London for four days at the beginning of April. Any suggestions on things to see? Yummy yarn shops to visit?
I NEED A VACATION. These last two weeks of 14+ hour days are NO FUN.
Sigh.

Posted by: Brett at March 10, 2005 11:22 PMIn addition to all the regular tourist attractions, I liked the Greenwich Observatory and park as well as the Maritime musuem there.
Posted by: J at March 11, 2005 06:38 AMIf you find medieval torture methods interesting at all, check out the London Dungeon. It's been a long time since I was there - but it features somewhat cheesy vignettes in a dank, dripping, dark warehouse. Maybe that doesn't sound at all interesting to you...
Good for you for taking some vaca time! Have fun!
Posted by: Amy at March 13, 2005 09:55 PMI agree, if you have time, the midievil torture museum was interesting, where else could you learn where the real expression "hair of the dog was created." & Like I said, you just must do the tourist thing and it's a "must" to see the crown jewels at the Tower and WestMinster Catherdral. Wm and Ms Caro enjoyed the Eye and really liked the Jack the Ripper Evening Tour but I hear that the Evening Pub tour is awsome also. I think that you may like the British Library (which has some neat displays) and Summerset House (for art) which I tried to get to but got derailed in the process and never made it. :-) Maybe next time.
Posted by: Brat at March 14, 2005 07:01 AMTry one of the cheesy London double-decker bus tours. They're a great way to get an overview of the city and figure out what you really want to see.
Try Covent Garden - a great place to people watch, shop, and eat. And I really enjoyed the Transportation Museum that's there, strangely enough. If nothing else, visit their gift shop.
Leicester Square is also a great spot for people watching, and Picadilly Square is right around the corner.
The Tate gallery is wonderful if you enjoy art museums.
Have fun!
Posted by: Jessica at March 15, 2005 09:25 PMFound your webpage through another blog and thought I'll give you some tips for what to do in London.
My personal highlights are Camden (nightlife & market); Highgate Cementery; Hampstead; Spitalfields Market; Brick Lane (for great food); Greenwich; doing a walk along the South Bank from Westminster to Tower Bridge and stopping along the way at the Tate Modern, Shakespeares Globe Theatre, Borough Market, Vinopolis; doing a walk with www.walks.com; Covent Garden (plus Neal Street and Neals Yard); Kew Gardens; Richmond (a nice walk along the Thames and don't forgot to have a pint in one of the many pubs)
Have Fun in London
