Apparently the odds of two right handed parents having a left handed child is 9.5% (According to this article.)
So what do you suppose the odds are that two right handed parents would have 3 left handed childern?? Only one of the four of us is right handed.
I read that and I was astounded. The article mentions a variety of possible reasons for handedness (genetics, brain damage (very old discounted theory), environment, etc), and one of them is trying to mimic the parents. So what if I was the statistical anomoly and the other two brothers were just trying to mimic me?? That's plausible, right? ;)

And yeah, I'd love a hat. ;)
Posted by: Vivi at November 30, 2005 10:13 PMYou need to take in account that back in the dark ages (Grandparents) they forced children to use the right hand because it was thought that left handedness was bad. It wasn't till our (your Dad's and mine) generation were having children that it was agreed by Doctors that the child should decide what hand they wanted to use. I can still remember my Mom trying to get you to use your right hand! We had a hard time trying to convince her that it was okay for you to use your left hand! Now with all that information consider this - as a child I could use both hands equally. Even today I can (with practice) write with both hands!
