First Gym Visit

I went to my new gym for the first time on Saturday. I had an appointment with a personal trainer. I thought we'd be setting up a regimen of machines and exercises for me to do, but the first visit is done as a baseline fitness test. They write down your weight, body fat measurement (done with a little handheld device) and how far you go in 10 minutes on each the treadmill, bike, and elliptical walker (my favorite). That way you can look at these measurements in x months and see how far you've come. Not a bad idea. I don't like my body fat measurement at all! Ouch. Have to get that number down!

Another guy was there for the same thing. He seemed non-interested in me until he heard my weight and body fat. Then it became a "I have to do better than the fat American" kind of thing for him or something. Kept looking at my paper and machine read outs. And trying to make eye contact. Weirdo.

I have an another appt on Thursday evening to see another trainer and go through the weight machines with him. In the meantime I'm going to go in Monday and Tuesday to go through the treadmill, bike, and elliptical walker cycle again. That was a nice progressive workout yesterday. That and going up and down my five flights of stairs at least 6 or 7 times yesterday! The elevator is still broken and I had laundry and grocery shopping to do. I promise to use the stairs much more often when the elevator starts working again, but I'm not dragging the laundry up and down the stairs again, if I can help it.
