I've just spent the entire evening working on this:

I'm calling it my iPod "sock" because it's made with Regia sock yarn. :)
The pattern is from the latest Crochetme mini-newsletter - it's a " Versatile Pouch". I tried finding the pattern on the site, but no luck. Sorry. Actually, just the tube part is from that pattern - I adjusted the flap so I could have space open for the headphone jack and the locking tab. I also added a pocket on the back for the earplugs. Is there anybody out there who doesn't adjust patterns, even just a little?
I had soo much fun making this. [Hey, give me a break, it's been a stressful week at work.] And I'm so proud of the result! I used techniques I haven't ever used before - a reverse slip stitch for the edging around the flap, sewing/whip-stitching things on to the work, and using a yarn needle to weave the ends in. I'd tried the reverse slip stitch before, and just couldn't seem to "get" it. This time it was so intuitive! And I really like how the ends get woven in using the needle - why haven't I tried this before??
I'm hoping that it'll shrink just a little bit when I wash it - make it more snug and the stitches closer together. Overall though, I am very happy with the results.
This was the perfect antidote to my week which included two 16 hour days - a period of which was between midnight and 2:30am (hot bug fix) - and breaking the amber "stone" on my favorite ring this morning in my hurry to get out the door - that pissed me off almost more that the stress at work.
Anyway - isn't it a lovely iPod "sock"? :)

Thanks for sharing, I've been looking for a good pattern.
Posted by: Tracey at March 16, 2005 02:58 PMThanks Tracy, but I didn't use this pattern. I used a variation of a pattern that was sent out in a mini-newsletter. I searched Crochetme for the pattern from the mini-newsletter and couldn't find it. Okay, my end result looks alot like the pattern you mention here, but I didn't use it.
